Current Problems Team

With a small but dedicated team of crew leaders, we host cleanups, develop restoration and education projects and engage volunteers in protecting our waterways.

We are pleased to announce that we recently hired Jess Martin as our new Outreach and Cleanup Coordinator.  Jess, a lifelong Floridian residing in Micanopy, FL, is a dedicated advocate for environmental conservation and biodiversity protection. She holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Biological Sciences from Santa Fe College, complemented by valuable experiences including an internship with the Alachua Audubon Society and participation in the Undergraduate Coral Research Initiative funded by the National Science Foundation.

Currently, Jess serves as a Live-in Personal Assistant at Mockernut Hill Botanical Gardens, where she actively contributes to the care and preservation of native flora and ecosystems, showcasing her commitment to environmental stewardship.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Jess is an avid naturalist who passionately volunteers for initiatives such as the Santa Fe River Turtle Project, the Florida Horseshoe Crab Watch, and various FWC projects. With a specialization in Florida's native and invasive species and proficiency in invasive plant removal methods, she hopes to make a lasting impact in safeguarding and understanding the diverse ecosystems of her home state.
